300 Spartans

I’m a big fan of The Movie Blog, and they have been talking about the movie called 300 for weeks now. I had in mind a kind of comic book movie (since it’s based on it) but that trailer caught me off guard. I had seen part of it on YouTube this week but it was filmed by a camera at some conference. The quality of this one is great enought for your eyes to enjoy.

First thing it did is remind me a Gladiator and I think it’s the last major film I’ve seen using this timeline recently. It got blood, action, fights, sense of honnor and unity in front of adversity. What I gathered so far from the story line is that an invasion army will have a rought time defeating a small number of “super” Spartans.

*UPDATE*: Obviously the trailer has been taken off iFilm. The quality was great and it was widescreen. The alternative was found on YouTube but who knows how long it will stay alive.

*UPDATE*: Look no further than the official website for the trailer in Quicktime, this one is there to stay: www.apple.com/trailers/wb/300/trailer1/

You’re right, the video is unavailable… But there’s more, and I’m greatly deceived by the poster, actually. I haven’t read the comic book, but I’ve read a novel about this battle, and, coupled with my (little) knowledge of the Spartan weapons, the movie won’t be acurate. Shields and weapons are not the same, and I just think it’s too bad because it seems like a great movie, and the story seems good too. Well, we’ll see !
